Expectations are those little holes from which frustration sometime clouds our heart. Knowing what to expect or not expect from people is key to finding fulfilment in your everyday journey. Below are a few things you must never expect from people if you hate feeling frustrated.
1.
Total
Acceptance
Stop
expecting people to totally accept you. People have their own idea of amazing
and its no big deal if you don’t fit into their box. There’s someone who totally accepted you his name is Jesus!

Frequent
Validation
I
totally understand the need to feel validated by a significant other. However,
it becomes a torment when you often expect them or others to validate you and
they don’t. When in doubt of how wonderful you are, look up Psalm 139:14. When in
doubt about your capacity, look up Philippians 4:13. When in doubt of how cute
you are, check the mirror in your house!

Idea
Endorsement
So
an Idea popped in your head and you think it’s the most amazing one? Oh nice! It
really might be but don't expect everyone around you to endorse your ideas. We see
things differently remember? Some people might give useful constructive criticism
and others might just call the bluff on your pretty idea. Whatever the case,
always remember to check your idea against God’s expectation of you.

Confirmed
thoughts
I
know we kinda like it when people just know how we are feeling or what we are
thinking without been told. In as much as that feels good, it’s totally unwise
to expect that all the time. Only God knows the unspoken desires of our hearts
in its entirety. So darling, speak up for you. Let others know what you like or
don’t. Express yourself respectfully.

Perpetual
Support
Don’t
get me wrong. It’s totally necessary to have a support system. A spouse, a
close friend, a teacher, pastor or anyone else. However, you must know that no
one enjoys been occupied by tales of woes befalling others. It is okay to open
up and share your struggles but please don’t let it become a signature. Don’t let
them mark you as one who often has bad things going on in his/her life. They
might smile at you but trust me, they soon would get tired.
Learn to take your worries to God in prayer for yourself. Jesus died for everyone to have access to God (Hebrews 4:16) and in as much as human sympathy is cool; JESUS sympathises way better than men and without the judgemental look or attitude.
Committed to your fulfilment
In summary, loving our neighbour as yourself is the only thing we owe others. But always seeking their opinions or having expectations shouldn't be a way for us to qualify or approve of ourselves.
ReplyDeleteEven Jesus wasn't trying to seek approval or confirmation, when he asked his disciple, 'who do men say that I am?'.
